In England they've enjoyed this Christmas comedy for over Five Hundred Years. This is my version.

The Shepherds Play is a translation and adaptation from Middle English of the famous Second Shepherds Play by an unknown playwright usually referred to as The Wakefield Master.

Part of the comedy of the original is the anachronism of putting medieval English shepherds in a biblical setting. My version updates the anachronisms but keeps the intense Dr. Seuss-like rhyme scheme.
The Shepherds Play is available to amateur and school productions without royalty. I only ask to be informed of the dates and place of any upcoming production.
